Sam

Born May 2003, Border Collie Sam is another of our club comedians, unlike “sisters” Floss and Skye he was never destined for the show ring as according to Sarah he “has the worst back end confirmation in history”, he is obedience trained to competition level however, although his sits were wonky so he always lost points!

Sam was a novice flyballer with just a few points on the scoreboard when he returned to the sport in 2008, like Skye - on the back of sister Floss, but was a bit scared of going into and coming out to other dogs and had been a little bit written off by his former club.  He did a couple of starter comps to get going again and within 3-4 months he was a transformed dog running in any position, whilst maintaining his individualism with a style of his very own, so unique it can vary from week to week, he likes to keep surprising us!

Easily recognisable as the dog “dancing” with excitement (yes dancing the “Sam Dance”) whilst waiting to go in the ring, or the dog that goes up to the box in a flash, selects a turn from his portfolio of techniques and comes back in anything from first to fifth gear.  Sam’s best mates are petite ladies Bailey and Jess as his dodgy confirmation limits the height he can comfortably jump.  They don’t mind that one little bit though, as the club’s toothless “funny man” (he is minus some front teeth as he tends to comes down stairs full speed straight into the door at the bottom managed to knock them out complete with roots), is as popular with them as he is with the rest of us.

There’s certainly never a dull moment with Sam around.
