Born in 2000 and known to her friends as Big Pops (which also helps us distinguish her from our other Poppy) at first glance you'd think she was a full greyhound, however once people get to know her they see the crazy lurcher she really is.
Poppy began flyball with her previous club in 2004, but was by no means the easiest dog to train, much preferring to run around the adjoining football pitch and join in the local league match. Eventually she decided she understood and turned into an absolute maniac, competing at Crufts YKC in 2007 with mates Kim & Bailey coming 4th.
Along with housemates Chip and Jet, Poppy also competes in agility occasionally. She has a
theory that those bits on the end of the contacts will burn your paws, they must never be touched and will tell this to anyone that will listen (for this reason she sticks to jumping classes).
Poppy is an adrenaline junkie and one of her favourite hobbies is jumping off seawalls after low flying gulls...well, not quite. Shortly after joining the 'Owlers in 2007 she had a nasty injury jumping off a seawall whilst on holiday. Although she made a functional recovery, she has never been the same in either discipline, but is still more than happy to join in with some flyball if her services are required and is now the ‘Owlers regular "Super Sub" |
