Stripe was a pleasant surprise for Kim from partner Garry who had heard of a farm bred litter of working sheep dogs from Wales looking for homes whilst on his HGV travels. Born in October 2005, Stripe along with Buddy has the distinction therefore of being born an Owler.
He took to flyball very easily when we eventually got started with him (once he had grown into his very long legs), but for quite a while failed to fully appreciate the racing element of the sport. He made his starters debut early in 2007 and by May was in his first open tournament at Middlesbrough and throughout the second half of 2007 was a reliable addition to the Night Owlers. By Middlesbrough 2008 Stripe was starting to come of age and for the first time we saw a bit more of what he was really capable of. We gambled on moving him up a team at the next opportunity to see if the bigger adrenalin buzz in there would get him going and with his ladies in waiting - Kim, Buffy, Jet & Lolly the real sub 5 second Stripe emerged!
He has gone from strength to strength (the noisier his team mates the better) and is now holds a firm second team spot, he sometimes likes to remind us of the past though and can put in the occasional "lead legs" run, which typically and in true Owlers style has become his nickname!
