Born in December 2001, Floss had something of a unique 'Owlers introduction; the first time we saw her was when she turned up to race with the Barking 'Owlers at Tabley House in June 2008!
A run of pre tournament disasters had left us with no alternative but to pull a team out however, luckily just before I made the phone call, a bizarre agility forum chat between Julie and Floss' owner Sarah resulted in the former flyballing show dog's services being offered for the day if we thought she could be of any use (half jokingly I think) but, never ones to look a gift horse (or dog) in the mouth we duly accepted!
BFA membership renewal was seriously fast tracked and Floss lined up as the Barking 'Owlers anchor dog having not been in a flyball arena since September 2005! The rest as they say is history, Sarah got the flyball bug again and Floss was all too pleased to be back in a sport she loved but originally had to leave due to injury. Nicknamed "Crazy Floss" you will never need to ask why once you have seen her lined up waiting to race.
Her timing at joining the 'Owlers could not have been better as within 3 weeks she was ably filling the void in the Barney 'Owlers left by Murphy after Julie's stroke and the most Border Collie-less flyball club in the land now had the craziest of them all, with her younger brother Sam & sister Skye thrown in for good measure! |
