What a day it turned out to be good and bad with our 3 teams all determined to do there best and come away with a rosette....

First up was the Barney Owlers in Division 1 : Norah, Jack, Brooke, Murph and George.

Well to say they had a tough challenge was an understatement, the first race of the day against Cheshire Set proved to be a frustrating one. Being in the blue lane caused us no end of controversy with faulty lights that penalised us in error, in the end this probably cost us winning the race which was a huge disapointment to us.

Our day didn't get much better with more problem lights in the blue lane and Murph deciding he didn't want to run in the red lane he would rather go and see the team in the blue lane. On the occasions we did get it together we pulled out some amazing legs and showed what the Barney team are really made of. With more work on Murph and his red lane antics this will be a superb team that will only get stronger and stronger.

We did however manage to get our lovely Jack some extra points, he is working towards his Graduate award of 3,000 points this summer season so hopefully we have managed to help him get that little bit nearer.

Next up the Night Owlers in Division 8 : Archie, Charli, Poppy Lurcher, Luke, Buffy and Buddy.

The Wednesday previous we didn't particularly have a successful training session as some of the pups decided they would not do a change over and ran around the jumps or would run out on the way back so we were all a little nervous. Well we needn't have bothered and they were brilliant each dog took their positions like true professionals and showed the division what a cracking team they are. We think they just like to play about in training and mess with or minds and nerves.

They raced their little hearts out with some nail biting finishes but it never phased the dog or handler, only loosing one race all day the Nights could proudly hold their heads to a 1st place at the top of the Division 8 table. No one could have been more happier than Katie handling Poppy as she has only trained with this team once and Katie was extremely nervous, Poppy proved to be a valuable member of the team after a little hiccup in the morning where Poppy decided she would rather be with her mum than up at the box.

Well done Nights you did yourselves and the club proud.

Last but not least were our superstars of the day, our baby team the Laughing Owlets: Jet,Stripe,Poppy B.C, Fynn, Lolly and Tess (first ever time out).

These guys were amazing, there was only netting around the box area, the jumps were just winged which left so much temptation for our rookies. But we needn't have had the slightness of nervous because my goodness did they put on a show. Every one of these pups went and got their ball time after time with hardly a wrong paw. Fynn and handler Jon joined us as guests from the club of our good buddies the Dog Friendly's. He was a little cracker to say he has never met our crew and managed to do some lovely change overs. Also a big mention must go to our newest recruit in the shape of Tess the 2 year old Tri Boarder Collie, she has had 2 sessions with us and looked like a pro. Jon her dad managed to actually almost do a change over and she never phased, flying up to the box and back again every time.

I think this little team were the highlight of the day for the Owlers not only clocking an amazing 22 seconds with room to spare they also went on the be champions of the day with 1st place rosettes. Well done young guns you have proved to be a future force to be reckoned with and to say the club are proud is an understatement. A big thank you to the Dog Friendly's for the loan of Fynn and Jon, it was a pleasure to have you as honorary Owlers and you are welcome to join us again anytime.

So all in all a pretty good day on the whole, though our next tournament at Middlesbrough on the 12th May will be a huge mountain to climb with some of our regular pups missing it will be a mamouth task but when has that ever stopped the Owlers from giving it their best shot?!!!!!.
